The prerequisites for the Medical program are:
90 college credit hours are required for admission into the Doctor of Medicine
However, Nigerian students coming from Secondary School with Mathematics,
English, Chemistry, Biology and Physics, do not have the sufficient 90 credits hours,
therefore, they are required to do 4 semesters of the Pre Medical Program at AIMU
which offers the requisite courses for entry into the MD Program. Those students
would be eligible for the 5.5 year Program. But they must have Mathematics, English,
Chemistry, Biology and Physics at secondary level.
Steps to the Application process.
In order to determine eligibility, the academic transcripts must be sent via email IN
PDF FORMAT ONLY for evaluation along with the passport copy, completed
application form, a personal statement and two letters of recommendation. These are
all required for the evaluation.
Once the student meets all the requirements an admission offer letter will be sent to
you with all relevant information and the breakdown of tuition fees and instructions to
continue the application process.
For nationals of Africa, the visa is required in the passport before they arrive in St.
Lucia. Therefore, after the student pays the one time fees, (application fee = $200
and Administrative fee = $2500), the passport and supporting documents must be
couriered to St. Lucia so that the visa process can be done. The visa process takes 6
to 8 weeks, therefore the admission requirements must be met in good time. As soon
as the visa is endorsed, the student is required to pay the tuition fees and any other
fees like housing, Insurance etc., before the passport is returned. It is after this travel
plan is made to arrive in St. Lucia.
